Empowering Financial Futures: An Interview with Pascale Helyar-Moray OAM

I've known Pascale Helyar-Moray OAM for years, and her journey from launching Super Rewards to leading Grow My Money has been impressive. Having interviewed her multiple times, I was thrilled to have her on the podcast again to delve deeper into her story and the evolution of her business.

Pascale was recently awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her services to business and women's affairs. This honour recognises her efforts to address the gender gap in superannuation and home ownership. Pascale mentioned she was surprised by the nomination, which made receiving the award even more special.

Pascale's focus has always been on solving real problems for everyday Australians. She started Super Rewards to help people, especially women, boost their superannuation through cash back on their everyday spending. The initiative was a response to the troubling statistic that 1 in 6 women retire into poverty.

When interest rates began to rise after the pandemic, Pascale pivoted her business to address another issue – mortgage stress affecting over 1.5 million Australians. This led to the creation of Grow My Money, a service that offers cash back to help pay down mortgages faster as well as contributing to Superannuation.

What stands out about Grow My Money is its simplicity. By linking your cards, you can earn cash back to either pay down your mortgage, or to top up your superannuation from over 500 online retailers and 1,000 in-store locations without changing your spending habits.

Companies such as Flight Centre, Myer, Apple and Pet Barn are all part of the platform. Pascale shared that she's personally earned over $1,700 in cash back, which could grow significantly with compound interest over time – particularly relevant for long term superannuation savings.

Looking ahead, Pascale is focused on expanding Grow My Money through direct-to-consumer marketing and strategic partnerships. She also sees potential in the corporate market, where employers can offer Grow My Money as an employee benefit.

It's been fascinating to watch Pascale's journey and her commitment to empowering Australians to take control of their financial futures. Grow My Money is addressing real issues in a practical, user-friendly way and I personally look forward to what Pascale and her team achieve next.
